报告内容介绍：

In this talk, we investigate a stochastic linear-quadratic (SLQ) control problem for a regime-switching jump-diffusion system. Unlike traditional regime-switching diffusion systems that couple a diffusion process with a Markov chain, we incorporate the jumps of the Markov chain into the state equation. This modeling methodology effectively captures potential gains or losses of the system during the regime transitions. It should be noted that the introduction of Markov chain jumps into the state equation leads to increased complexity in the corresponding coupled differential Riccati equations (CDREs), thereby rendering the solvability of the control problem more challenging. Under the assumption that the cost functional is uniformly convex, we establish the unique solvability of the corresponding CDREs. Building upon this foundation, we derive a closed-loop representation for the unique open-loop optimal control. Finally, we apply our theoretical results to the mean-variance portfolio selection problem in financial markets and obtain its efficient frontier.

报告内容介绍：

This paper provides a new approximation method to get the optimal retention for a combination of quota-share and excess of loss reinsurance. Assuming that the insurer has partial information of the individual claim size, and inspired by De Vylder approximation method, we modify the approximated claim size distribution to hyper-exponential, which promote the accuracy, and develop the Padé approximation for the insurer’s ultimate ruin probability. To fulfill the requirement of Padé approximation, the Bowers Gamma approximation is adopted for approximating the received premium and the first three moments of the claim size after reinsurance for the insurer. A general approximation is also proposed, but more attention is paid to the case of third-order moments in examples and details. We then derive the optimal retention for the reinsurance arrangement by minimizing the approximated ruin probability. Some numerical examples are given, which show that the proposed Bowers Gamma with Padé approximation performs better than translated gamma with De Vylder approximation. We also extend this numerical result to the situation with prevention.

报告内容介绍：

We consider a class of stochastic control problems which have been widely used in optimal foraging theory and financial modeling. The optimal state process has two distinct dynamics, characterized by two pairs of drift and diffusion coefficients, depending on whether it takes values bigger or smaller than a threshold value. Adopting a perturbation type approach, we find an expression for potential measure of the optimal state process. We then obtain an expression for the transition density of the optimal state process by inverting the associated Laplace transform. Properties including the stationary distribution of the optimal state process are discussed. Finally, an expression of the value function and the optimal control are given for such stochastic control problems. As an application, we transform the continuous-time two-armed bandit problem in finance into our control framework to derive the optimal investment strategy which maximizes the probability of reaching a specified threshold.

We studied the random field Ising model(RFIM) on the box [0,1]^2 with mesh size $\delta$ external field {\epsilon h_v} where h_v will be i.i.d. normal variables. Our main interest is the behavior of interfaces between plus and minus spins at critical temperature. We show that almost surely in the disorder, any subsequecntial limit of the quenched law of the interface is absolutely continuous with respect to SLE_3. We then show that this contrasts with the subsequential limit of the quenched law of the collection of outmost spin loops, which turns out to be almost surely singular with respect to outmost CLE_3. This talk is based on a joint work with L\'eonie Papon and Aoteng Xia.

报告内容介绍：

In the digital era, organisations are increasingly leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to optimise their operations and decision-making. However, the opaqueness of AI processes raises concerns over trust, fairness, and autonomy, especially in the gig economy, where AI-driven management is ubiquitous. This study investigates how explainable AI (xAI), through comparative use of counterfactual versus factual and local versus global explanations, shapes gig workers’ acceptance of AI-driven decisions and management relations, drawing on cognitive load theory. Using experimental data from 1,107 gig workers, we found that both counterfactual (relative to factual) and local (relative to global) explanations increase the acceptance of AI decisions. However, the combination of local and counterfactual explanations can overwhelm workers, thereby reducing these positive effects. Further, worker acceptance mediated the relationship between xAI explanations and management relations. A follow-up study using a simplified scenario and additional procedural controls confirmed the robustness of these effects. Our findings underscore the value of carefully tailored xAI in fostering equitable, transparent, and constructive organisational practices in digitally mediated work environments.

We study a class of (reflected)-backward stochastic differential equations (RBSDE) driven by a marked point process (MPP) with a convex/concave generator. Based on fixed point argument, 𝜃-method and truncation technique, the well-posedness of this kind of RBSDE with unbounded terminal condition and obstacle is investigated. Besides, we present an application on the pricing of American options via utility maximization, which is solved by constructing an RBSDE with a convex generator. Joint work with Zihao Gu and Kun Xu.

报告人介绍：

Shui Yu is a Professor of School of Computer Science, University of Technology Sydney, Australia. His research interest includes Mathematical AI, Cybersecurity, Network Science, and Big Data. He has published seven monographs and edited two books, more than 700 technical papers at different venues, such as IEEE TDSC, TPDS, TC, TIFS, TMC, TKDE, TETC, ToN, and INFOCOM. His current h-index is 88. Professor Yu promoted the research field of networking for big data since 2013, and his research outputs have been widely adopted by industrial systems, such as Amazon cloud security. He is currently serving the editorial boards of IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials (Area Editor), IEEE Transactions on Cognitive Communications and Networking, and IEEE Transactions on Dependable and Secure Computing. He is the elected Vice President of Technical and Educational Activities of IEEE ComSoc. He is a member of ACM and AAAS, and a Fellow of IEEE.

报告内容介绍：

Artificial Intelligence is a leading topic in both science and technology sectors. However, we do not have decent theoretical understanding of the various perspectives of AI yet, such as the deep learning models, datasets, optimization, and so on. Many efforts are ongoing to study the AI problems using mathematical tools. In this talk, we firstly present the essential problems of AI: high dimensionality and nonlinearity. Secondly, based on our study, we report the popular mathematical tools used by the communities for these problems, including differential geometry, optimal transport, Lie group, and so on. Finally, we present some representative works in mathematical AI for communications and computing fields. We hope the talk will shed light on the promising field for interested audience, and we can explore the uncharted land further together.
